PTAs play a crucial role in ensuring schools are safe environments. PTAs and schools can also partner to effectively support healthy lifestyles for students, their families, and educators.
VAPTA is committed to the health and safety of every child, providing programming, training, advocacy, tools, and resources. We also partner with key statewide organizations who share our commitment to healthy and safe schools.
The work to ensure healthy and safe schools encompasses a wide range of areas and topics such as building safety, threat assessment and emergency response, lock down drills, school climate, food security, mental health, substance misuse, vaping, nutrition, exercise, suicide prevention, internet safety, trauma informed care, and social-emotional learning.
