Annually, the Virginia PTA recognizes those local units who excel in membership achievement. Superior Awards, Outstanding Awards and Membership Achievement Awards are offered to local unit PTAs. Districts and Councils are also recognized.
Growth Awards and Submission Dates will be available on the Virginia PTA website as well as advertised in the e-newsletter "the Voice". Stay connected.
Awards Eligibility: Must be a Unit in Good Standing - Current membership dues paid, Bylaws revised every five years, current audit, 990, officers' information submitted, and activated your unit in the National Database system OR submitted membership electronically to state office. **

The Awards below require a membership application to be submitted:
PTA Founder's Day Celebration Award
Increase unit membership by 17 during the month of February to celebrate National PTA Founders Day on February 17 and receive a special recognition award. Submit application with membership list by March 1st.
100% Faculty and Staff Membership Award
Units enrolling 100% of your schools' Teachers, Principal, and Assistance Principals in your PTA/PTSA qualify for this award. Submit application with membership list and school staff roster by March 1st.
25% Male Membership Award
Units achieving 25% male membership qualify for this award. Submit application with membership list by March 1st.
25% Student Membership Award
PTSA's achieving 25% student members qualify for this award. Submit application with membership list by March 1st.
New PTA Charter Membership Award
PTA/PTSA's chartered in the 2017-2018 with a minimum of 25 founding members qualify for this award. No Membership application required. Criteria based on dues submission. The deadline is June 1st.
**Virginia PTA is participating in the beta rollout of National PTA’s membership database. Because not all units will be able to enroll in the database before our December 1 dues deadline, we will be accepting membership lists and dues in the traditional methods. By the end of the 2017-2018 school year, we hope all VAPTA units will be enrolled in the membership database. For more information, www.vapta.org.
100% Membership, Outstanding, and Superior Awards are automatically calculated and no application is required. These calculations are based upon unit membership and the deadline dates following each description below:
100% Local Unit Membership Award
Units achieving 100% Membership receive special certificates and pin. 1st Deadline: March 1st. 2nd Deadline: June 1st. Must have at least one member for each enrolled student based on the previous years student Average Daily Membership (ADM)turned in to the Department of Education for the year before.. No Membership application required. Units reaching these goals between March 1 and June 1 receive certificates.
DIVISIONS FOR SUPERIOR AND OUTSTANDING MEMBERSHIP AWARDS
Local units are grouped into seven divisions according to student enrollment:
Division 1 - 1 to 299
Division 2 - 300 to399
Division 3 - 400 to 499
Division 4 - 500 to 599
Division 5 - 600-699
Division 6 - 700-999
Division 7 - 1000 & above
