Board of Directors
The Officers of the Virginia PTA and District Directors constitute the Board of Directors. The officers are a President, President-Elect, three Vice-Presidents – Advocacy, Programs, and Training, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. Each is elected for a term of two (2) years. Officers are elected in the annual meeting at odd year Annual Conferences. If you would like to be considered for an officer position, please click here.
District Directors (and district officers) are elected at annual district meetings in alternate years for a term of two (2) years. The director of each district is a member of the Board of Directors.
In addition to the Board of Directors, Standing Committees are part of the Governance Team of the Virginia PTA. They're created by the Board of Directors as necessary to carry on the work of the Virginia PTA. Each Standing Committee consists of a Chair and other persons as approved by the Executive Committee. If you would like to be considered for a committee chair position, please click here. Chairs are elected for a term of two (2) years. All committee chairs are elected at the Spring board meeting.
All Standing Committees include a minimum of one member-at-large. Special committees can be created and appointed by the President or Board of Directors. The President designates the chair and members of any and all other committees not specified by the Bylaws. (i.e. Internal Committees).
