Board of Directors
The elected Officers of the Virginia PTA, District Directors or their alternates, the Communications Chair, the Bylaws Chair, and the Nominations Committee Chair constitutes the Board of Directors. The Office Administrator also serves as a member of the Board of Directors in a non-voting capacity. The officers are a President, President-Elect, four Vice-Presidents – Advocacy, Membership, Programs, and Training, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. Each is elected for a term of two (2) years. District Directors (and district officers) are elected at annual district meetings in alternate years for a term of two (2) years. The director of each geographic district is a member of the Board of Directors.
Standing Committees are created by the Board of Directors as necessary to carry on the work of the Virginia PTA. Each Standing Committee consists of a Chair, who may be a Vice President, or an individual who is approved by the Board of Directors. Standing Committee members are approved by the Executive Committee. If you would like to be considered for a committee chair position, please contact Ali Brown, Nominations Chair. Chairs are elected for a term of two (2) years. All committee chairs are elected at the Spring Board of Directors meeting. All Standing Committees include a minimum of one member-at-large. If you would like to be considered for a Standing Committee member-at-large position please complete the application.
Special Committees can be created and appointed by the President or Board of Directors. The Executive Committee designates the chair of special committees. The President appoints members of any and all other committees not specified by the Bylaws or Standard Operating Procedures. (i.e. Internal Committees).
