Last year, the Lottery contributed more than $765 million to Virginia's public schools. By law, all unclaimed Virginia Lottery prizes go to the Literary Fund, which provides low-interest loans to localities for public-school construction, renovations and technology upgrades. Since 1988, the Lottery has transferred more than $320 million in unclaimed prizes to the Literary Fund. Virginia Lottery also hosts Thank A Teacher each year which provides teachers with vacation prize opportunties. As the program grew, the NRA received numerous requests from men who were interested in attending the seminars. Recognizing the program’s relevance to both men and women, the NRA voted in 1997 to make the program co-ed. The only pre-requisite for seminar participation is an interest in crime prevention and personal safety. NRA membership is not required. Learn more visit their website.
