National PTA School of Excellence
Virginia PTA is proud to celebrate 22 PTA units from Virginia that were designated as a PTA School of Excellence for 2023-2025.
National Parent Teacher Association School of Excellence recognition program opens the lines of communication and critical thinking within school communities to make data-driven decisions that yield positive, long-term results.
School of Excellence participants make a year-long commitment to identify and implement an action plan for school improvement based on PTA’s National Standards for Family-School Partnerships. Along the way, you can expect step-by-step guidance and networking opportunities to gain support and feedback, identify and reach goals and earn recognition
School of Excellence Helps Your PTA:
- Identify and implement best practices in family engagement to strengthen family-school partnerships.
- Build inclusive and welcoming school communities
- Attract new, action-oriented PTA members who want to focus on the issues that affect our children the most.
During the first year you will:
Step #1: Enroll: Applications are due annually in October.
Step #2: Gather and Analyze Community Feedback: Using a baseline survey and listening session guide, you’ll collect and analyze feedback from your community.
Step #3: Build an Excellence Action Plan: Select an area of focus and build an action plan based on community feedback. Throughout the school year, you will join National PTA webinars and trainings and consult the your roadmap.
Step #4: Reflect On and Summarize Progress: Conduct a final survey and complete the Community Impact Form to reflect on the impact you made in your focus area.
At the end of year one, and completion of your Action plan, you will be designated a School of Excellence.
Year 2 = Celebrate!
At the start of year two, you will receive a banner and a celebration toolkit. You will be invited to share your work with National PTA and Virginia PTA as a leader in the field of family-school partnerships.
